Opening Blog

Well, at 37 years old I thought I wouldn’t have too many more firsts in my life. But, here I am posting my first blog entry about opening my first business. I still haven’t eaten my first Rita’s Italian Ice. So I have that to look forward to. Back to the topic at hand. Opening THE SYNC ROOM. To bring you up to speed, I need to employ a Wayne’s World-esk flash back. My wife and I had just moved from York PA to Nashville TN. She was, and still is, an aspiring songwriter. One day she asked me, “What did you always want to do? What’s your passion?” I replied, “I always loved recording, but that’s not why we came here.” Being the smarter of us she said, “Duh, Chad, its Nashville. Look around. If you don’t pursue recording here you never will.” As usual, she was right. I went back to school for audio and graduated first in my class from SAE, Nashville. After five great years, we felt the pull toward home. We love Nashville, but needed to be with our families. We had been living in East Nashville. A cool, hip, part of the city that was going through a renaissance. We knew we would need a place like that in PA to be truly happy. We looked a long time to find a city that offered a vibrant music and art scene. We found a great realtor in Jeff Geoghan, who found us a fantastic home in Lancaster City. Not only does Lancaster have an incredible art scene, it also has a lot a cool restaurants. From old favorites like Lancaster Brewing Co, Quipps and The Lancaster Dispensing Co., to new hot spots like Fenz, Iron Hill Brewery and Yorgos, Lancaster makes it easy to enjoy a night out. But, I digress. We found an old cigar warehouse, imagine that, that was being turned into a collection of art and music related office spaces. What a perfect fit. One of the rooms used to be a walk in freezer for Kegels produce. I couldn’t believe my luck. To acoustically isolate a room like that would have cost thousands of dollars! The current owner, Mike Heberlein (who also owns and runs Lancaster Art Galleries), worked with my wife and I to renovate the room.

Thus, The Sync Room is open and ready to go. Keep watching for the grand opening in May. I’ll post the details as it’s planned.

Make a joyful noise-

Chad

My name is Mark Stewart and I am 22 years old. My whole life has been dedicated to music, however. When I was just a toddler I got this cassette player for christmas, before portable CD players (and NO Im not that old), and I would carry this thing around with me a treasure it as if it were the holy grail. Every night I would put on my tape, or the radio, and put the head phones under the pillow so when my ear hit the pillow I was hearing music. I knew I was destined to be a part of the music culture. Well, at the age of 12 I became lyrically inclined writing my own music to express my feelings. I knew that there had to be more to music than just taking instrumentals and writing to them. I wanted to produce and compose my own music that nobody has ever heard before. Now, I have been producing my own music for about 4 years, but let me tell you that it was not an easy start. I didn't know the basics from MIDI down to TRS cables or XLR cables, but now I know everything there is to get a jump start. Music is a never ending learning process. I have a Korg M3 88 w/ a Radias Rack, Roland Fantom X6, Korg R3 vocoder/ synth, KRK 5 monitors, Logic Pro 8, Reaper, Mimik, Kontakt 5 with Kore 2 bundle, Presonus Firewire Project, MXL condensor Mic, M-Audio Axiom 61 MIDI controller, Alesis I/0 14 firewire, Sound Engineering (sE) The Reflection Filter, CAD GXL 2200 Condensor Mic, Proteus X, Livid Union 2.1, Macbook Pro 17" with 4 gigs of Ram 250 Gig of HD space 2.4 Ghz processing speed, Cubase AI 4, Cubase LE 4, BFD Core Audio, Roland Juno-G, Akai MPC 1000, Ultrasone HFI-550 headphones, and the NEWEST to my collection is the OPEN LABS MIKO TIMBALAND SPECIAL EDITION (TSE)!!!! The rest of my life will always involve music in some aspect. I am originally from Wilkes-Barre, PA, where it is the home of the Anthracite Coal Mining industry. I have been living in Lancaster, PA, for about 3 years now and am very grateful to be here because it is filled with artistic design and I kicked off a lot of my music when I moved here. Right now I am engaged to my future fiancé who encourages and supports my making music. I travel back and forth to NJ every weekend to see her. Now, I have reached a point in my life where I am moving to FL this July to attend Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). But, hey, I am making music wherever I go!!! I hope that you learned a little about me and enjoyed reading what I had to say.

CHAD!!!! I wish your business the best of luck and I hope all goes well. I will see you soon buddy. Oh, I am going to bring by the Miko that we were looking at and I HAVE TO show you this thing!!! It is PHENOMENAL!!!!!
